ERROL LINTON

Skillfully merges blues, pop, reggae with evocative songs into a seamless inimitable new music.

Errol Linton - born and bred Londoner, has come to know, its atmosphere, sounds, colours, and its people. Through his music and his songs, Errol has developed a truly original and personal style inspired by everyday life as a struggling Londoner.

“I grew up in London, I picked up a harmonica one day, a friend had sold me, started blowing on it and never stopped. The harp led me to the blues. My parents are from Jamaica so I grew up hearing reggae, gospel, soul, ska, bit of country and Louis Jordan. Friends started making tapes for me with blues on it, when I first heard Sonny Boy Williamson it blew me away”.

Errol Linton was discovered by BBC producer John Walters in 1991 and was asked to perform on a the BBC Radio 1 Andy Kershaw Show and, in 1993, Errol featured in Walters’ BBC TV series in a programme titled ‘Rhythms of the Worlds: Two generations of the Blues’.

When Errol recorded his first album Vibin’ It in 1997, Radio DJs Charlie Gillett, Paul Jones, John Peel and Andy Kershaw all played the album. In 2001, Linton returned to the studio to cut Roots Stew, an album which showed Errol’s songwriting developing.

His third album Mama Said demonstrates the inimitable Errol Linton style to the full.

With distribution, the album has gained fantastic reviews in the national papers such as The Independent On Sunday, The Observer, The Sunday Times and The Daily Telegraph, and magazines like Mojo (‘’Errol deserves more than an underground reputation’’ MOJO).

Errol has also started to guest perform on radio stations such as Radio2, Radio3, Radio4, BBC 6Music, BBC London and Jazz FM to name a few. Errol is three times winner of the Best British Blues Harmonica Player Award.

Stuart Macbeth

Century old blues and jazz from Stuart Macbeth (piano/vocal) and Carlo Matassa (guitar) stars of The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band.

Stuart is a singer, writer and bandleader with a lifelong passion for old jazz and blues music. He performs historical material with a quartet – and quirky original songs with his seven piece group, The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band – named after the blues troupe which once claimed Bessie Smith as a member, and the spasm bands that lined the streets of New Orleans playing homemade instruments. Bold, brassy and imaginative, The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band have been moving feet in the dancehalls of  Europe since 2007.

Historic repertoire includes 1920s classics like “St Louis Blues”, “Careless Love”, “Gimme A Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer” and ’30s standards such as “On The Sunny Side of the Street” and “If I Had You”.

'86' 2014 New Years Eve

Celebrate in classic hospitality style and help us ’86’ 2014!

The term ’86’ has been used throughout the hospitality industry from as far back as the early 1900's. There are many stories over the years where the original term came from, but our favourite appears from the story of Chumley's Speakeasy in New York City during prohibition which reveals a bartender having a few "friends" working for the NYPD and being always tipped off when the bar was going to be raided. Police would tell the bartender he should '86' his guests which meant, make everyone leave via the 86 Bedford street door whilst the police would come to the Pamela Court entrance.

Now the term 86 is widely used in food and drink industry as a way of discreetly telling other members of staff that a product has reached it's end. At NOLA we are now saying 86 to the past year and offering VIP ticket holders a different cocktail every 86 minutes until the bar closes as well as a champagne drink served at midnight!

To celebrate New Years Eve we have our favourite band 'The Diavolo Trio', ushering out 2014 bringing 2015 in with a bang!

£20 VIP tickets are limited but will guarantee your group a table as well as free drinks every 86min. £10 tickets are also available for guaranteed entry on the night (but without the cocktails). To purchase your tickets, please click here.

London Cocktail Week: NOLA vs. NOLA

An intercontinental contest for bragging rights, New Orleans' best bartenders are taking on the team from London's very own NOLA. The winner gets bragging rights for the next year... The loser has to do penance at next year's Tales of the Cocktail.

How it works:

Seven of New Orleans' best bartenders have been asked to each make an original Bittermens kick-ass cocktail (one for each night of London Cocktail Week).

The bartenders at NOLA received the exact same ingredients (but none of the information about how the original was made).
Customers visiting NOLA during London Cocktail Week who come in wearing their wrist bands will then be able to sample both the original drink made the New Orleans way, and the NOLA reinterpretation and vote for which one they like best.

There will be a different pair of drinks every night, based around a different base spirit, so every day there will be a new drinking experience on offer.

Monday - Tequila - Kim Patton Bragg from Three Muses

Trouserless Tuesday - Bourbon - Liam Deegan from Barrelproof

Wednesday - Rum - Jeff “Beachbum” Berry from Latitude 29

Thursday - Gin - Paul Gustings from the Empire Bar at Broussard's

Friday - Fernet - Myles Standefer from Cochon

Saturday - Aquavit - Christine Jeanine Nielsen from Lucky Rooster

Sunday - Baska Snaps - Nick Detrich from Cane and Table.

Sponsored by Bittermens.

£8 gets you one of each of the cocktails and a vote for your favourite!
